About the Business
The deeply felt relationship with the landscape is the underlining theme of Karen's work. Many of the paintings reflect on the concept of "enclosed landscapes " captured within the painted surface. These landscapes are inhabited by ephemeral objects, which articulate notions of space and time, expressing both emotional and cognitive links between artist, reality and memory.
Karen's working methodology involves the constant use of sketchbooks to explore ideas out in the landscape, later developing the drawings into paintings in the studio. Karen is a self employed artist and printmaker working in a rural setting on the Upton Estate adjacent to Upton House (National Trust) on the boarders of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire.
